The Plane
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was designed and built for the US Navy. It was used for both air to air combat and reconnaissance work, from the mid 1970-s though to the late 1990’s, until it was used as a long-range strike fighter until 2006.
The Model
This was built from the 1:48 scale Hasegawa kit. There were a lot of extensive modifications made to the kit to accommodate the extra parts added, including an Aires cockpit, wheel wells, Verlinden electronics bays and exhausts. There were also a variety of photo etched parts used.
