The Plane

The McDonnell Douglas F-18 was built for the US Navy to assist the F-14 in certain attack missions. It was designed for dogfights and ground attack. It was released to service in the late 1970’s and is still in use today (2013).

The Model

This was built from the 1:48 scale Hasegawa kit. This was modified to allow for the fitment of the radar, shown with the nose cone open. In addition, I used the Aires cockpit, exhausts, wheel wells and electronics bays.

Completed August 2012
