BMW E24 Series 635csi

The Car
The BMW E24 series was the first BMW 6 Series coupé. The 635 model was introduced in 1978, with the M635 in 1984. The car has a distinct shark nose and is still a desirable model even today, with only 5803 of the M versions made. The 635CSi won the European Touring Car Championships three times, in 1981, 1983 and 1986.
The Model
This is the 1:24 Fujimi Enthusiast version. Despite the extra detail provided in the Fujimi kit, there was still a bit of room for improvement. The first thing I did was to replace the kit exhaust manifolds with solder wire as the kit parts were not easy to work with, or round. I also had to scratch build the engine mounts as I was missing them from my kit. The suspension springs where replaced with metal wire. As always, the interior was flocked. I then tried something different on the exterior chrome, opting to mask it off and spray with Alclad II chrome, rather then use BMF for this.
