The Car
The BMW Z3 was BMW’s first attempt at a modern, mass-market roadster to compete against the likes of the Mazda MX5 (Miata). It was developed from the old E36 3 Series platform and was originally offered with only a 1.9 litre petrol engine. BMW added more engines to the options to entice more customers, due to a lot of potential buyers left feeling the original engine was underpowered to what their expectations were.
The Model
This model is the 1:24 Tamiya kit of the original car with the 1.9 litre engine. I scratch built custom front and rear splitters, and roll bars behind the seats. After market wheels were added which completed the changes to the exterior. The interior had a two tone paint job, with modified gear knob and hand brake lever to give it some AC Schnitzer styling to it. Flocking was added to simulate carpet in the floor area.
