The Car
The Ferrari 288 GTO designed and built for group B rallying, which unfortunately was stopped for safetly reasons, leaving all the 272 cars Ferrari built as road going cars. As they were developed for racing though, they have a reputation for excellent speed and handing – even compared to today’s standards. It is powered by a 2.8 litre twin-turbo V8 providing a 0-60 time of less than 5 seconds.
The Model
This is based on the 1:24 Fujimi kit. All the louvers and windscreen wipers were cut out and replaced with photo etched parts to provide a thinner, more accurate representation. The interior was modified to take photo etched parts for the air vents, knobs, dials, pedals, seat belts and seat rivets. The engine bay received the same level of treatment, with missing wires installed and photo etched parts used extensively throughout.
