The Car
Ferrari introduced the 550 in 1996 with a V12 engine. Built as a large 2 seat tourer, Ferrari placed the 550 as their high-end model. Powered by a 5.5 litre engine upfront, and the 6 speed gearbox at the rear, the 550 has perfect weight distribution with the power to match.
The Model
This is built from the 1:24 Tamiya kit. It was painted with a custom pearl blue paint with a black and cream interior. As it is a kit with no engine detail, detailing was kept to a minimum. Photo etched parts were used on both the exterior and interior to add details such as the gear gate, seatbelts, brake disks and front grill. Additional mesh was used on the side intakes as the real car would have. The interior was blocked with a grey mix to simulate carpet which complements the cream seats. After market Ferrari emblems were added to replace the kit decals for added realism.
