The Bike

Marco Melandri rode the M1 with the Spiderman Livery in the Portuguese GP in 2004, to coincide with the release of the Spiderman 2 film. Unfortunately, he crashed out on lap 7, so the bike is no longer around. The paint scheme was ran for charity, and after the race, Marco's helmet, leathers, and what remained of the fairings were auctioned off.

The Model

This is built from the 1:12 Tamiya kit. The detail added were minimal on this build to concentrate on the livery. Details added include additional wiring, rivets, nut heads, carbon fibre trim and the exhaust was detail painted to reflect the heat stains on the real bike. The rear mounts, fuel filler, and brakes received photo etched parts. The front forks were replaced with turned metal parts, and the wheel nuts were replaced with real items, rather than the kit supplied screws.

Completed June 2013
