2010 Yamaha YZR500 WCM 'Red Bull'

The Bike
Racing in the 1999 World Road Race GP series, the YZR500 depicted here was ridden by Gary McCoy for the independant WCM Yamaha team, sponsored by the Red Bull drinks company. Gary joined the team mid season, but very quickly got to grips with the bike, earning a 3rd place at his second outing on the bike
The Model
Built from the 1:12 Tamiya kit, with minimal extra details added. My main focus on this build was to experiment with Neodymium magnets to replace the kit screws holding the fairings on, along with my first attempt at wet sanding and polishing the paint work. I did use the Scale Motorsport details set for it though, combined with some Scale Motorsport decal sheets and some detail painting to enhance some of the details.
