Mini Cooper S

The Car

The new Mini was introduced by BMW in 2001, with the Cooper S model following in 2002. The Mini Cooper S has the same 1.6 engine as the other models, but with the addition of a supercharger, creating 160+ BHP. With its small, light body, it gained a reputation as a fun, fast car with great handling characteristics. The name ‘Cooper’ echoes the name from the past, with the range of older, sportier model Mini’s having the involvement of John Cooper, who created the racing versions of the original Mini, the Mini Cooper S.

The Model

The model is built from the 1:24 scale Fujimi kit. It was painted a custom candy red over silver base, and a pearl white roof. The mirrors, wheels and bonnet stripes were also done with the pearl white. Photo etched parts were used to enhance the detail, including the radiator grill, front and rear mesh and side scripts. The interior benefitted from the addition of flocking for carpets and seatbelts to add realism. As it is a fairly basic kit with no engine, no other details were added.
